About Ruben Bell

Little stories that start big learnings.

Ruben Bell, the father of two daughters, now grown, who somewhere along the way became the kind of adults he'd only ever hoped for — curious, warm, deeply kind people who think the best of others.

Watching them grow up taught him something he didn't expect: how early the real shaping happens. Long before a child can define words like empathy, patience, or mindfulness, they're already absorbing them — through the stories told to them, the small choices modeled in front of them, the quiet ways the adults around them treat each other and the world.

At the same time, Ruben has spent enough years paying attention to the world to notice how much pain moves through it — and how much of the difficulty people carry as adults seems to trace back to something that was never quite taught, or taught too late, or taught in a way that never really landed. Kindness. A sense of enough. The confidence to ask a real question. The ability to say sorry and mean it.

He started writing under the belief that a five-year-old can hold far more than we usually give them credit for — not through lecture, but through a story small enough to fit in their hands and warm enough to stay with them. Each Ruben Bell series takes one idea — honesty, gratitude, courage, resilience, body confidence, kindness, creativity, mindfulness — and turns it into a world a child wants to return to, again and again, until the idea isn't something they were taught. It's just something they know.

He writes hoping that somewhere, a parent reading one of these stories out loud is doing for their own child what he tried to do for his — laying the ground early, gently, one page at a time.
